Tips For Finding Great Miami Vacation Rentals

Miami Airport Villas, 4325 Northwest South Tamiami Canal Drive, Miami FL 33126 (Ph: 786-334-6500): Planning a trip to Miami? Whether you're going on business or planning a fun getaway with the family, you may find your trip more enjoyable if you rent an apartment or house rather than sticking with the expensive hotels. You'll find thousands of Miami vacation rentals online, many listed by homeowners who want to make some extra money while they're away, so how can you make sure you're getting a good deal? Here are some tips to follow before signing up for any Miami short term rental.
1. Don't send money right away:
Unfortunately, there are a lot of scams out there surrounding Miami vacation rentals, almost all of which involve the supposed owner requiring you to send in money before you sign any paperwork. In many of these cases, the person advertising the rental doesn't even own the property, they're merely putting up pictures on Craigslist or another website and luring unsuspecting tourists into putting down a deposit on a non-existent rental to reserve the space.
Never send in money until you've signed ...
... paperwork and do some research on the person or company advertising the rental. This is why it's usually best to work with a company that offers Miami short term rentals over individuals because you know who you're working with.
2. Read the fine print:
Next, make sure you go over the fine print before you sign any contract or lease. Check if there's a cancellation policy if you need to end your trip early or cancel your travel plans and check if you'll get your deposit back if this is the case. You'll also want to know exactly what's included in the rental. If you're looking for furnished apartments, Miami has plenty of realtors, businesses and homeowners advertising them. This shouldn't be your only consideration, however.
Even if the ad says "everything is included," double check the paperwork to look for hidden charges. Are utilities, Internet and cable services covered? Does the property even include high-speed Internet? If the electricity is paid for, is there a cap on the charges? You'll find most contracts state that the rental includes utilities although there's a cap of perhaps $200.
3. Are pets allowed?
Most vacation rentals will allow you to bring along your pet, although most of them also have a limit of 20 pounds. You'll also want to check which types of animals are allowed, if any, as some only allow dogs but others may allow you to bring your cat or another pet.
4. Reserve your rental early:
Finally, make sure you reserve your vacation rental early. This is especially true with furnished apartments; Miami is a popular destination and furnished apartments go very quickly. Depending on the time you're traveling, you may need to make your reservation up to 6 months in advance to be sure the home or apartment is available when you're ready to pack your bags and go.
