This article is for those who have been undergoing PSM training, and feel that through the available free assessments they are ready to take the PSM exam. Exams, as always are unnerving time, as you do not know what to expect. You fear that you might not get your Scrum Master certificate, after investing so much time plus money trying to get it. Before you get to do the exam, it is advisable that you use the free assessment tests available at Scrum.org, where you can gauge your progress through the course. With more and more companies asking for Scrum Master Certification, this exam means more than just a team building ...
... course. When you sit for your Scrum Master exam you should have these facts in your mind:

If you pass you will be credited with a “Professional Scrum Master I,” certificate. Remember the pass mark is 85% anything less and you may have to sit for the ScrumBut. The ScrumBut will just help you assess where you are with your understanding with the course.

To get your Scrum Master Certification you do not have to have any prerequisites. All you have to do is show that you are well versed in your language, and a reliable Internet connection. The exam is in English, but the PSM guide which basically guides you through the course is available in other languages.

The number of questions that you will be judged on are 80. Each question will either be a multiple choices one, or true or false question. Basically there are no open questions which will come as a huge relief as you can guess the right answer without knowing.

Time is however, short as you will be given 60 minutes to complete 80 questions in your PSM exam. This means that you have less than a minute to answer each question. Given the PSM exam is in the multiple choice and true/false format, it is possible to make it on time.

The exam is only available online from scrum.org. You will need to pay $100 USD to be able to sit for the exam. Scrum.org is the known proctor of the Professional Scrum Master I course. Also, if you visit Scrum.org you will be able to download the PSM I guide, which is a must read if you want to know how to answer all your PSM questions.

There are no exam assignments; once you answer the 80 questions that is it you are done. All you have to do now is hope and pray that your effort bears you a Scrum Master Certification.

Exams were not made for us to fail, they are there to strengthen us, while aiding us to achieve our goals. Remember, nothing good comes easy, and if it does it is not worth it. Ask anyone with a certificate, they will be quick to show you how proud they are of their achievement. Knowing what you expect from the exam is your first step to passing your exam, so fear no more the certificate is yours.
