Wall Decor Mistakes You Should Avoid At All Costs!

When you walk in to a home, one of the first things you are bound to notice is the wall decor. And this also makes the very first impression on your mind about the home owner, his or her personal style and character too. However, with wall decor, some mistakes are far too common and easily corrected, and this is what we will discuss today.
Wall decor faux pas are easily avoided, if you let your creativity flow through to choose colourful wall decor that is clubbed together or clustered up following some logic that you are able to represent through the grouping. Why do we club together some wall decorative crafts and wall decorative items? It is to not show that we own ‘x’ number of pieces, but for them to build a character for the room and look aesthetically pleasing. Do not ever use a small area rug on the wall; wall decorative crafts like wall hangings are very different from the ones that are used on the floor and are only a good idea if your decor is traditional. For a modern decor, refrain from using any fabric whatsoever for the wall decor.
Never start by choosing the wall paint first. You need to get your ...
... decor theme in place, think of fabrics and furnishings as well as furniture and then choose a wall paint or wall treatment that blends with the theme. If you are going to try candle wall decor, make sure that it isn’t placed too high up but at eye level for people to appreciate the details you have worked so hard to incorporate in to your wall decor. Same goes for artwork – paintings, photographs and any wall decorative items you may want to use must be hung at eye level to create the best visual impact.
It is best to never spend a lot of money for a theme in the room. Maybe an Arabian nights theme can appeal to you today and you can spend a bundle of money to get a coordinating wall paper and wall decorative crafts but what when you are bored 2 years down the line? If you are young and your design preferences change season to season, wall decal is a better choice for you. They are far more affordable and can be used in small patches, for complete walls and even stuck on to furniture pieces, mirrors, cars and outdoor walls. If you have a theme in mind right now, say the same Arabian night theme or a jungle theme, make it work through the use of less expensive items like throw pillows and cushions and other easily changeable decor elements rather than expensive wall decor treatments.
For an interesting look, mix and match wall finishes. For example, square wall decals when mixed with family pictures, square light fixtures, paintings and wood crafts pieces can create a more balanced, bright and colourful wall decor than using just a large painting for that area. One thing you should forget for an effective wall decor is the lighting – use a mix of ambient, overhead, spot and task lighting for the best look.
