Bathroom Curtain: The Ultimate Buying Guide
We all give a lot of thought to the D Decor curtains we use in the living rooms and the beautiful cotton curtains we have in the baby’s nursery or the thick Jacquard curtains in the bedroom. But did you really give any thought to picking the right bathroom curtain? If you usually walk in to a store and pick the first shower curtain you see without giving any thought to the material, the lining, the rod and the curtain rings, maybe it is time you start.
Balance style and practicality:
More than in any other room, your choice in bathroom curtain needs to balance function and style a 100%. Using aesthetically pleasing window curtain that don’t really block sound in your study or using sheer floral print curtains in the living room that bring in a little too much light can be something you can live with; but a bathroom curtain that doesn’t separate the wet and dry zone and maintains the much needed privacy while you enjoy a shower in the family bathroom can be a catastrophe. ...
... A shower curtain is something you use every day, it creates a barrier between you and anyone else who might need to use the bathroom alongside or even later and doesn’t have to walk in to the wet zone with dirty muddy feet. Therefore, it is a must to go for quality, while also ensuring that your shower curtains are aesthetically pleasing because you don’t want to be embarrassed of drawing the curtain when your guests want to use the restroom.
Fabric and Lining:
Though most people go with a plastic or vinyl bathroom curtain, it is possible to use fabric also. If you have a fully accessorized, sophisticated bathroom, then cotton curtains or even polyester floral print curtains can create a formal look. For such curtains, you will need to buy a waterproof lining, so that the curtain lasts longer and is not damaged by exposure to water every day or doesn’t stay wet all day long to increase chances of mildew and mould build-up. Liners ensure that curtains stay dry and that there is a protective barrier that can deflect moisture. Good stitching is a must to check if you buy curtain online, double stitching can ensure that your curtains don’t fray at the edges.
Other components:
When choosing bathroom curtain, don’t fail to consider other important factors like the rod from which you hang the curtain or the curtain rings. Bathroom curtain rods come in a wide variety of styles, finishes and sizes. Many are adjustable, so that you don’t need the exact measurements when fitting a rod in a bathroom. Your choices can be plastic, chrome and stainless steel. If choosing metal, opt for chrome because it doesn’t get rusted and there is no friction when the rings slide over the rod. However, if you want to choose plastic rings for your bathroom curtain because these are more resilient to rust and dirt build-up as compared to metal rings, you should opt for a plastic rod.
