Of course, Vinyl Roller shades help you get ample light control and privacy, and are one of the most cost-effective window decorating options for your home. But, sometimes it becomes a little bit faded or you may feel to change the look of your vinyl roller shade.
Well, as we all know that vinyl shades can be used independently or can be used with other window treatments, you can easily recover them with fabrics or wallpaper to give a custom touch and to boost up its life. Apart from all these, you can also find the material left over from a decorating project or you can choose specific color or pattern that complement your room décor.
Here’s the list of the steps through which you can recover your vinyl roller shades:
* You can cover a huge & the flat surface of the roller shade using a newspaper to protect it from glutinous overspray.
* Now, you have to unroll the roller shade and put it on flat protected surface, with the front side of the shade facing up. Make sure you cover all the ends of the roller shade with a newspaper to protect ...
... it against the adhesive overspray. You can also tape the newspaper in place if required.
* Once you are done with it, it is time for you to measure the width and length of the vinyl roller shade. So, measure the width and height of the shade and cut the fabric or wallpaper of your choice. Make sure you cut the fabric or wallpaper 2 inches extra in terms of width and height measured by you, to avoid issues later on. Iron the fabric, if required and put the fabric or wallpaper aside.
* After completing cutting and ironing of the fabric or wallpaper, spray the vinyl lightly and evenly with adhesive. While spraying the vinyl shade, make sure you cover each and every side of the shade to cover the entire surface of it.
* Now place the fabric or wallpaper over the surface of the vinyl roller shade, with the top of the material facing up. Ensure that the material or fabric cover entire shade from top to bottom and from right to left.
* Use rolling pin to smoothly press the fabric or wallpaper over the vinyl roller shades. You can start from the center and move towards the edges of the shade. If you don’t have a rolling pin, then you use your hands palm by placing them at the center of the fabric or wallpaper and smooth it towards the edges. It is must that you let the adhesive or glue dry appropriately.
* Change the direction of the shade and cut down the additional fabric or wallpaper from the edges of the shade.
While using adhesive to glue the fabric or wallpaper, if you find any bubble, then prick the bubble to release the air and press the material again to fix it appropriately. This way you can easily recover old vinyl roller shades using different wallpapers or fabrics or colors.
