A home-based internet business is a way for you to earn either additional money online or even replace your full-time job. Yes it's hard to know what's real out there on the World Wide Web and what is a scam and what isn't. That's why people hesitate at so many things anymore, they don't want to invest money and lose it.

Of course you will have to expect to invest some money to have your own home-based internet business, but the cost should be something you can afford and not have to get a second mortgage on your house to cover. In fact, you shouldn't invest more than you can afford to lose to start off, let's say a weeks pay. That way if you decide it isn't for you, the world won't come to an end.

Next, you should expect there to be some work involved. It may not be the kind of "work" you do at a normal job, but you will have to put forth some thought and effort. Nobody is going to pay somebody to sit back in their boxer shorts and do nothing all day, that's just silly. You certainly shouldn't run out and quit your job to start your home-based internet business because there is a learning curve involved and even though some people start making money right away, there is no guarantee the same will happen to you. Once you start making enough money to be comfortable you can quit your day job and move into working your home based internet business full-time. That is the smart way to make the transition from a dead end JOB to a home based internet business while avoiding the risk.

Some home-based internet businesses are a great opportunity for the everyday person who is looking for a way to earn a bit of extra money. If you do make a bunch of money you can make your own call from there. But not all home-based internet businesses are scams, you just have to do your homework.
