Aircrafts, automobiles, repair industries, food packaging, robotics, construction, fabrication- what do all these industries have in common? Well at fist sight, all these may seem a little too diverse to be connected to each other in any manner. That may have been the case a decade ago but today there is one thing that they all use in one form or the other- pneumatics. Of course, this term covers a vast number of products and tools, differing technology and pneumatic components such as compressors, hosing, actuators and Koganei pneumatic valves.

Pneumatic power tools are used in varying forms in all of these industries and without exception have brought about a sea-change in all of them. The construction industry uses air guns, staplers, sanders, caulking guns, rotary hammers, texture guns and jack hammers to name just a few. Fabrication and manufacturing industries depend upon hammers, sprayers, pneumatic wrenches, drills and sand blasters to attend to jobs in an efficient and quick manner. The automotive industry makes use of cutters, suction cups and pneumatic wrenches. The food and drink packaging industry relies ...
... heavily on pneumatic pads and optical sensors.

Pneumatic equipment can have heavy-duty applications as well as miniature component handling ones. Robotic arms pick and fix small parts of electronic equipment with dexterity, precision and ease. Pneumatics has been adapted for use in smaller and portable tools. Some fastening tools as well as nail guns have a small compressed air canister attached to them and can be taken to the site that they have to be used at. The more hybrid or advanced ones are operated either by liquefied petroleum or batteries. In addition to the canister there are other pneumatic components that are essential for the proper running of pneumatic equipment.

The compressor that you buy has to match the air needs of the tool that you are using. Multiple hoses and pipe fittings can be used to extend the length of the hose. This is especially useful if you need to place the compressor far away from the site that the actual tool is going to be used at. The couplings at either end of the hose segments can be attached and detached without switching off the compressor. Ensure that the length of the hose pipe matches the power of the compressor as a longer hose pipe will mean loss of gas pressure and volume.

High-quality pneumatic tools have Koganei pneumatic valves fitted in them. These valves regulate the flow of compressed gas through the entire system and are a critical component of air tools. All pneumatic equipment needs to be oiled and cleaned. Regular maintenance will ensue that the equipment stays as good as new and that it works efficiently. Never deviate from the specifications mentioned in the tool manual and never override instructions. Use safety equipment like work goggles, gloves, a helmet, strong metal-toed shoes and most importantly never take chances while using any kind of pneumatic equipment. They are powerful tools and must be treated with respect.
