The people of India love street food. The spicy, flavourful chaats, bhel puris, golgappas and kachoris are definitely worth a try when in Delhi. There are people who worry about the hygiene and the quality standards of these street food stalls and to them we can say- eating something that is made right in front of you is better than the food served behind closed doors.

In the varied Street food stalls and shops of Delhi there is a steady line of snacks and fried foods made with Indian masala where you get an opportunity to taste a new dish on a daily basis. Delhi offers light snacks, healthy snacks, kid’s snacks and quick snacks and for each type of food there are special shops.

Looking for Snacks, Rolls & More?

A visit to Paranthe Wali Gali in Chandni Chowk will give you an unbelievable gastronomic experience. The parantha is a type of bread stuffed with vegetables or sweets shallow fried in pure ghee. A walk through this gali or street will lead you to shops that are famous for its mouth-watering paranthas.

In this street you will get an opportunity ...
... to taste parathas stuffed with chillies, cashews, almonds, lady fingers, carrots, radishes and cauliflowers etc. to name a few ingredients. Along with it you will be served sweet tamarind chutney, mint chutney, vegetable pickle, cottage cheese mixture or a sautéed sweet pumpkin accompaniment. Along with the tasty parathas order a glass of sweet lassi made of curd or a hot coffee to complement your snack.

Besides this lane, there are so many road side vendors and cafes that offer delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian rolls. Jung Bahadur in Chandni Chowk, Roll Me One in the Defence Colony Flyover Market and Jung Bahadur in Chandni Chowk are some of the notable snack and roll shops.

If looking to have some traditional drinks such as banta head to Pandit Ved Parkash Lemon Wale which is popularly known all over Delhi.

For desserts there is the Old & Famous Jalebi Wala or Shiv Misthan Bhandar, both located in Chandni Chowk.

For Dilliwallahs who like their Chinese food can go to the Chinese Food Van located in Vikram Vihar to taste the authentic Chinese cuisine or can walk straight to Madhuvan Chinese Fast Food located in Yusuf Sarai Community Market.

For food lovers Delhi offers a remarkable blend of cuisines. Be it Indian, Nepalese, Thai or Chinese, you will get the original version in Delhi.
