History abounds in Mumbai as is seen through the various historical sights that stand there today. The Haji Ali historic mosque is home to a 500-year-old tomb of Haji Ali, himself. Haji Ali was a very wealthy man that relinquished all his wealth and material possession in order to pursue a life of religious mediation.

The Mahalaxmi Temple is another must see historical sight. The temple is devoted to the Hindu Goddess of wealth. Inside the temple you will find idols decorated with gold ornaments of Mahalaxmi, Mahakali, and Mahasaraswati.

In the center of Mumbai, you will find a breath-taking fountain known as the Flora Fountain also known as Hutatma Chowk. The fountain received its name from the Roman Goddess of Flowers, Flora; however, to honor those that died during the birth of Maharashtra state it is often called Hutatma Chowk.

If you are searching for a romantic spot to watch the sunset over the Arabian Sea, then there is no other place like Kamala Nehru Park and Hanging Gardens. The Mehta Gardens were created in 1881 to protect the water from the pollution. However, once atop the Malabar Hills your mind will only be on the beautiful sunset and astonishing view of the Arabian Sea.

These are only a few reasons to visit Mumbai; your family will of course enjoy learning the culture of the area and allowing their palate to devour the cuisine.
