New Delhi is not the capital city of India without good reason. The city is a classical blend of the rich heritage, the modern buildings and a free thinking population. The India Gate, inspired by the Arc De Triomphe of Paris, is a place that needs no introduction. Be it the lively Sunday crowd or the Republic Day parade, it defines Delhi. The Red Fort, a 17th century fort built by the great Mughal emperor Shah Jahan is one place that every tourist intending to come to Delhi desires to visit. The Shanti Vana or the Forest of Peace is the place where one of India’s greatest political icons, Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru was cremated. Because of the blissful serenity the place offers, it is visited by many. An epic symbolism of India’s strife for freedom, the Mutiny Memorial is a memorial in Delhi that symbolizes the determination that helped India see days beyond the domination of the British rule. Raj Ghat, the memorial of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, is one place where every person finds solace. Besides this there is the Veer Bhumi, Raj Path, Shakti Sthal and many others.
Every corner of Delhi is home to a monument which signifies India’s greatness and cultural heritage. Each one is symbolic and has stood up against the test of time to gift us stories of an epic past.
