Hyatt Aims To Please Women

When it comes to travel both men and women generally are looking for cheap travel options, including cheap airplane tickets, discount hotel rooms, and cheap vacation packages. Recent research done on behalf of Hyatt Hotels & Resorts found that female hotel guests share a number of unique desires.
Women want easy access to electronic chargers, hair straightening irons, yoga mats, and quality shampoo that will protect their hair. Addressing those needs can make the difference in female business travelers having to check luggage vs. only taking carry-on bags, thus not having to waste time waiting at the airport for checked baggage to come out of luggage carousels.
Female guests are also interested in easier ways to communicate with hotel management and provide staff feedback.
In response to the survey findings Hyatt has began testing changes in eight hotels, including the Hyatt Regency Chicago O’Hare:
• Given that women indicated they want assurance that their rooms have been cleaned and be given the opportunity to provide feedback, sheets of paper are being left in rooms on which housekeepers ...
... sign their names and personally confirm that the room has been cleaned. Guests are being invited to share their needs during their stay using pen and paper instead of email. To date, most guest notes have focused on “thank you’s.”
• Since female guests tend to be much more reluctant than men to seek assistance, Hyatt has introduced a program called “Hyatt Has It” so that guests can borrow a variety of highly valued items such as chargers, curling irons, flatirons, steamers, makeup remover wipes, razors and yoga mats. These items are available for purchase or borrowing.
Given that many travelers forget to pack needed items, Hyatt believes this service will appeal to men as well.
• In response to feedback that many women find it more difficult to maintain their health and weight when traveling, Hyatt has revamped its menus. Added are freshly made juices and smoothies as well as smaller portion options.
• The survey found that women are likely to use hotel provided hair products if they are found to be “credible.” Hyatt is doing away with its generic Portico toiletry line and replacing it with a variety of amenities from such labels as KenetMD Skin Care, Le Labo, June Jacobs and Aromapothecary.
