The Renault Laguna Is A Real Class Contender
The latest Renault Laguna is a true head turner as the visual changes along with aggressive new additions such as twin exhaust, chrome head lamps and 18-inch Interlagos make it an inspiring vehicle. The new metallic 'eyebrows' over the headlamps make the Renault Laguna more strikingly sizzling than ever before, especially in the GT trim line. The brilliantly laid-out cabin is very spacious and the materials used are of high quality. The gearshift is placed so wonderfully that it makes shifting gears extreme enjoyable. These characteristics make the cabin a pleasant place to spend time in. This car gets lot of equipment which includes extremely comfortable seats trimmed in leather and grey Alcantara suede giving it a very hush-hush look.
The TomTom sat-navigation is outstanding, giving real-time traffic information and speed camera warnings. It's operated by a useful joystick which is placed just under the driver's armrest. Its accidental protection system is very carefully engineered to provide optimal ...
... security in case of any mishap. Renault proudly claims that it had set a benchmark in security features by securing five stars in Euro NCAP crash test and becoming the first vehicle to do so. The 2.0 litre diesel engine for Renault Laguna churns out 148bhp , which for sure is its strongest asset. It's a downgraded version of the 178bhp dCi engine for Renault Laguna. It is pleasingly refined and quick, making it a fun to drive car.
In fact, at high speeds, engine noise has been cut down by 40 per cent which amazingly improves motorway cruising ability. With its much better fuel economy, lesser CO2 emissions and lower road tax, Laguna has attracted quite a public. The ride is where this car lets itself down as the big alloy wheels and stiffened suspension make an uncomfortable ride. The Renault Laguna 150 dCi doesn't come equipped with the innovative 4Control active steering and feels a little weighty by comparison. The cornering is not easy as the steering is not direct. However, there is lots of grip when at high speeds. The Renault Laguna falls behind its competitors when it comes to interior space and luggage capacity. The 450 litre boot space is below average.
The headroom is also restricted and adult passengers will find their heads rubbing the ceiling. These small details make the car a real class contender. The Renault Laguna is available at £21,475. It is a front wheel drive car mated with a six speed manual gearbox. The top speed is 131mph and it goes from 0 to 62mph in 9.5seconds. The Laguna is frugal too as it delivers 54.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 136g/km. All Renault's GT Line cars make a brave attempt to capture some of the joie de vivre of the manufacturer's speedy Renaultsport models. They might look the part but the racy suspension doesn't suit the Laguna. If you're searching for a quiet and comfy cruiser with a wonderfully smooth engine than go for the standard Dynamique model as its offers lots of kit and is good value for money.
