How To Maximise Your Savings When Using Voltage Optimisation Technologies

Voltage optimisation is the name given to a system for controlling the level of voltage supplied into a particular site and is sized dependant on the amount of actual energy being used. This allows the site to use less energy and, thus, save on electricity bills.
Getting the most savings from a Voltage optimisation system can be a challenge, the quality of the installation and savings is largely dependent on the quality and accuracy of the survey although there are things you can do to ensure that you limit any potential problems before installing your optimisation system.
Ensure you use a reputable company to advise, survey, supply & install your system.
Sometimes it is better to take advice from a company who has expertise in the field although voltage optimisation is not their only offering hence a more balanced approach may be given
Install a system that has under voltage protection to seamlessly bypass which will allow the system to operate trouble free and target lower voltages for longer periods of time and ...
... be in circuit longer.
Choose a less aggressive system that does not reduce the voltage too aggressively, a 15v – 20v voltage reduction will stay in circuit much longer than an 18v – 22v system and although the instantaneous savings may be higher on an18v – 22v system, the overall proportional savings may be higher on a 15v – 20v voltage reduction system.
In a commercial environment, install a dynamic system which adjusts the voltage and adapts to the changing grid voltage to maintain maximum savings and control
In a commercial environment, consider a dynamic system with remote control to assist in “on Line” commissioning and fine tuning of the whole system, all carried out remotely, during normal hours and without the need to shut down power.
There are many other behavioural measures that can also be used to maximise savings in tghe home and business like reviewing your heating arrangements, are your windows double-glazed, for example? Do all of your doors close properly? Has the space being heated had cavity wall insulation, or decent insulation above (such as loft insulation). These things all add up, and, eventually, you’ll find yourself supplementing the existing heating system with additional heaters, which are often mains based, and expensive.
Turn things off that aren’t being used, Voltage Optimiser works to make the most of the volts you consume, but there’s no sense in consuming more than is necessary, lights are the most common are of concern followed closely by appliances on “standby”, all the things that tend to be left on that, really, should be switched off.
