The Indira Gandhi National Open University has introduced online admission program for the candidates who are willing to join the programs offered by the university. The online admission program was started in the year 2008. With the online admission process becoming popular, there were about 1285 candidates who applied for the programs online for the year of January 2009.

In order to facilitate the handling of huge data inputted, and to streamline the process, the division has initiated the development of the in-house software for detecting the errors in the admission process. Any mistakes with the re-registration are also found, and the same information has also been provided to the regional centers of IGNOU.
