Hosting Panels: Directadmin Or Cpanel Hospedagem, What's Better?

Every aged webmasters agrees cPanel has been leading the market for at least five years. But there are serious and robust others, doing a very good job and winning a new market.

We did test DirectAdmin, a linux based control panel. Our impression was:

It is very easy to use, fewer features than cPanel, but very complete and stable. Linux based, it was installed into a Core2 Duo, 4GB RAM and CentOS. The installation process took a while, it downloads all the required modules to your linux hospedagem distribution, probably this was the reason.

DirectAdmin lacks for some extras, like Fantastico, automatic tools installer, and it haven't the same sort of skins and languages as cPanel. Fortunately, as DA have quite fewer options (it's a very complete panel, they just placed the features you will really use), translation was not a problem.

It's very light, it uses less CPU resources than cPanel. That saves you some money, as you don't need to upgrade your server very often. Also, you don't need so much RAM to run it, 1GB would do a great job.

... cheaper then cPanel. We have been hosting over 300 web sites on it, at a very easy job.
