Bullfighting is the national sport of Spain. Your Spain cultural tour will remain incomplete without a visit to one of the bullrings of the country. Although considered barbaric and banned in Canary Islands and Catalonia, bullfighting continues to enthrall the Spanish people during fiestas.

The Moor conquerors of the Iberian Peninsula transformed the traditional brutish bullfights of the Visigoths into a ritual observed during festivals or Fiesta Brava. Traditionally, three matadors fight six bulls in the bullring. March to October is the bullfighting season in Spain when several bullfighting festivals are held in different parts of the country. Although the country is dotted with bullrings, the best are the ones in Madrid, Barcelona and Seville that are packed with enthusiasts waving white handkerchief and cheering the matadors as they fight with the bulls.
