Don't Do What I Did... Look For Professional Van Hire In Leyland And Save Yourself The Time And Effo

Moving flat a few years ago, I managed to stuff the contents of my reasonably spacious, second floor double bedroom into my pokey 2005 model Ford Fiesta. Of course, I had to leave a few things behind; my mattress, my desk and my set of weights*, but all in all I thought I'd made a pretty good job of things.
Driving precariously home in the slow lane of the motorway, it did occur to me that I'd perhaps made a mistake, my exuberant packing have completely blocked my rear windscreen. But this was only a fleeting thought, and my attention was soon back on the road, carefully tracing the white dotted lines of the inside lane to my destination - a new flat, not far from my old one, but closer to work and with a somewhat better view.

Having arrived late at the new flat and not wishing to undertake any form of unpacking, I'd kept a sleeping bag in the passenger-side footwell so I could park up, lock up, take the lift to the 3rd floor, unlock the door and sleep on the sofa in my new living room.
Waking, cold and aching at 10 the next day, I dragged myself down to the car and began unpacking - ...
... and the day continued to get worse from there on.
My kitchen stuff: glasses broken, pans bent out of shape. My framed prints of Capa's Spanish Civil War photography (you remember The Falling Soldier?) and an amateur oil painting of Hemingway I'd done as an aspiring writer and artist aged 19: smashed.
Even my shoes - which I'd taken time to place sardine fashion, toe to tongue, in a thick duffle bag -were squashed and bent out of shape, their leather creased and wrinkled.
I'd made a mistake. I should have packed with more care - and I definitely shouldn't have crammed things into my Fiesta...
