Acute Coronary Syndromes: Get The Straight Answers
Acute coronary syndromes are the symptoms and the signs that there is an immediate problem with your heart. When the heart is unable to get enough blood, you can get sudden chest pains along with various other symptoms. Oxygen must be able to flow through the coronary arteries that lead to the heart. This can get interrupted if the arteries become too blocked or get too narrow. This in turn can cause a heart attack or angina to develop. These arteries can become blocked or narrow from a buildup of plaque which is made up of different things, one of them being cholesterol.
Acute coronary syndromes symptoms include a tight feeling in the chest as if it was being squeezed tightly. In some instances there can be a mild burning sensation, or you may not feel any pain at all in the chest area. There can also be nausea, dizziness, sweating, and pain in the back, arms, neck or stomach. Any or all of these symptoms can be present, and sometimes it is just a gut feeling that there is something seriously wrong that alerts you to the idea that you may be having a heart problem. If this is occurring, you need to call 911 immediately.

... br />Treatment for acute coronary syndromes consists of getting the blood to flow to the heart as soon as possible. Medicines that include nitroglycerin and heparin will be used in the effort to get the blood moving, and you will also be given pain relievers and oxygen. After the initial emergency is over, you will be given many tests, such as an electrocardiogram to find out the cause of your chest pain, and to see whether or not you had a heart attack or angina. You will be asked questions to determine if there is any history of heart problems in your family, your medical history, and you will be asked to describe your symptoms in full detail.
With the advanced techniques used in medicine today, more and more people are able to have a full recovery from acute coronary syndromes. There are more defibrillators in public places nowadays, and more people that are qualified to use them. That is the good news. The bad news is that many people are still losing their lives to acute coronary syndromes, and in some cases it could have been avoided by better lifestyle choices. There are new and improved treatment methods constantly appearing on the medical scene, and with the technology available today, and in the future, you have a better chance of being saved.
