A highly successful admissions process at FORE School of |Management saw a massive turnout of applicants from very diverse backgrounds for the 2013-2015 batch.

Applications came in from around 26 states; 67 per cent of those applying were male and 33 per cent female, while 53.07 were experienced professionals and 46.93 per cent were not.

Applicants had extremely diverse academic backgrounds, coming from streams as varied as the arts, commerce, science, agriculture, engineering, medicine, BBA/BBS, behavioural science, pharmacy, BCA, BHM, BIT/BIS, LLB, BJMC, BAMS and BFA.

Such diversity in the student body is something quality business schools are struggling to acquire - and FORE has achieved.

In a statement, the school said, “Diversity is the hallmark of Indian society and the corporate world has been using it to their advantage. At FORE, we encourage diversity greatly. Our present student profile is highly diverse in terms of gender, academic background and work experience. We are working to make our student force increasingly more diverse in terms of regions and ethnic backgrounds as well. ...
... Our admissions policy is geared to encourage students from North-Eastern and Southern India to seek admission to our various programmes.”

As president R.C. Sharma said, “Besides merit, encouragement is given to diversity in terms of gender, academic background and work experience. Candidates from North Eastern areas with high percentile in CAT were also given due consideration.”

This admission policy is aimed at bringing together people from different backgrounds in order to create a richer learning experience, where students have the opportunity to meet people of diverse interests and educational backgrounds. It’s a move to provide not just an educational experience, but a cultural one, helping students to develop as business professionals by providing a fresh perspective.

Studies have shown that diversity - by exposing students to a wide variety of different cultures and experience - benefits productivity and intellectual development, increasing the educational experience by improving the environment for teaching, learning and research. In fact, research has also shown that diversity has an impact on cognitive development, leadership abilities, intellectual growth, academic skills and critical thinking - all key traits when it comes to functioning effectively in the world of business.

And in its continuing efforts to provide international diversity for it student body, FORE has redoubled its efforts to build the widest possible network of partner institutions. It has in place agreements which include student exchanges with ESC Rennes School of Business in France; Savannah State University, College of Business Administration (COBA), Georgia, U.S.A.; Faculty of Business, University of New Brunswick (UNB), Canada and the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.

Discussions are also on with a large number of academic institutions as FORE explores opportunities for new collaborations.
