Incense has been used for meditation ever since it was created, because it helps the mind relax and enter the desired state much more easy. The meditation incense of today, has different scents than the incense used to perfume your home. Usually, it is lavender, sandalwood Incense and frankincense that are being used for meditation, however, if you don't have them around and you can't run to the store to buy some more, any other scent can be used.

The incense comes in several forms, and the stick form is just as commonly used as any other form. The incense sticks are less smoky than other forms, from those that are burned directly. A stick of about 12 to 14 cm in length will burn for some 30 minutes.

If you want to buy incense sticks, you have many options, both on and off line. The main differences between the 2 “places” are that online you get access to more fragrances, sold from all over the world, but you can't sniff themas you would in a store. For many, the way the incense smells like, is very important and it's the ...
... main reason for which they would buy it in the first place. This is particularly true for those who want a certain degree of scent in the place they burn it: for indoors, a more subtle scent might be more appropriate while outdoors, one would want a stronger scented incense.

Searching for incense for sale, online, is in a way better, as the sites selling them might offer more information than the info a shop assistant might give you. In addition, you will be able to choose from Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Tibetan incense or made in another country known to produce such products. Many might like the Indian incense more, even though it is more fragrant. One shouldn't settle for the cheap incense as it may not be as nice smelling as the natural one, and may be toxic too.

For meditation purposes, it is however recommended to use incense with a mild scent, as a scent that is too strong might be disturbing, and a too weak one might not help at all. This is why the wooded scents are best used for this purpose. Like mentioned earlier, if one is to meditate outdoors, it is OK, even recommended, to burn some strong scented incense as the wind may dissipate the scent faster, but it is still best to burn wood scented incense.
