So, how can you put up a beach tent?

* A dead-man can be made by cutting reasonably thick aluminum into 8 inch by 10 inch pieces.
* Next two holes need to be drilled in the center of the pieces to enable a cable to pass.
* A loop can be made by feeding a cable through the holes.
* A cable loop is formed when you slip a sleeve into one end of the cable and do the same for the sleeve from the opposite end.
* The sleeve will then need to be crimped very tight.
* Your dead-man is now ready. You can also make a dead-man out of driftwood or tree logs.
* The procedure for using a dead-man is to tie the guy-line to it in the center.
* On one stake location, dig a T-shaped trench. Depending on how loose the sand is, this trench will have to be dug a foot deep or deeper.
* Next, put the dead-man in this trench, keeping the guy-line at a 45-degree angle towards the tent.
* When this is done fill the trench up and tamp it hard.
* To test how secure it is, grasp the guy-line and tug hard. Rebury the dead-man deeper if it comes out.
* This process may need to be repeated until it stays put. Now do this for the remaining dead-man stakes and tie the guy-line to the tent.
