Choosing a web host for your website(s) can be tough. Here are 5 features to look for in a web host:

1. What type of hosting do you need?

Do you require Linux based hosting or Windows based web hosting? Are you looking for a dedicated server or just a place to store a single website? There are advantages to having a dedicated server, and a good web host will be able to guide you through these steps either using phone, email, or live chat, so that you can be confident you get the best-suited plan for your requirements and price.

2. Budget

Search around and consider the prices that various hosting companies are giving. Account for things like how much bandwidth and disk space are given by each web host per dollar amount. The cheapest prices may or may not include all the nice features though, so be certain you compare completely.

3. Disk Space

How much storage do you truly need. What type of site are you looking to have hosted? Is it a basic mostly-text site, informational, with only a few picturesphotos and graphics? In this case, storage is not really a big deal. Thus, you can ...
... choose to pay less attention to how much storage offered, and think more regarding the other features a particular web host may provide you, such as support or a solid reputation in the industry.

On the other hand, if your website is has lots of music or graphics on it, storage becomes a serious concern! In this instance, you'll need to look for the best storage oferred for the money, so to speak.

4. Data transfer (also known as data transfer)

What is Data transfer and why is it an important issue? Data transfer just means the amount of visitors allowed per month, meaning how much digital information can travel from the server (where your site is) to the user's computer who goes to your website. It is really that simple.

Every time someone goes to your website, their computer has to download all the pictures, graphics, text, and other multimedia your website may contain, so that their browser (such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, or Chrome) can display the website for the person viewing it.

What does this mean in plain English? You have a similar issue here as you do with storage: if your website has heaps of pictures, video, music or other multimedia content, you'll need a lot of Data transfer to be provided monthly by your web host. But again, if your website mostly contains text and perhaps 1 or 2images, this feature is far less critical!

Another thingto consider here is how many people you think will visit your website. If your website is well advertised and marketed, you'll need more Data transfer. If it's just a website for a couple friends and family members, Data transfer is less important.

5. The People Factor

This includes a good reputation and great customer help. While this ought to go without saying, it is critical to keep in mind that the lowest deal does not equate to the best value - getting the lowest price monthly (or yearly) for your web host does not necessarily guarantee the best customer help after the sale! Word to the wise: research a web host before you subscribe to anything greater than a monthly hosting.

If you want to try a web host out because they have competitive pricing, do so cautiously by starting with one month of hosting. If they don't follow up after the sale with good technical service and dependable customer help, take your website somewhere else! Simple as that!
