The Easiest Way To Hook Up A Home Theatre System
A home theatre system is the best match for a big screen TV. Hooking one up doesn’t need to be an all-nighter if you know what you’re doing.
Home theatre systems provide the perfect audio “boost” that gives vibrancy to whatever you’re watching, especially those movies powered by multi-channel soundtracks. Most home theatre systems are packaged systems that include speakers, subwoofers and multimedia players combined with sound amplifiers. Hooking a system up doesn’t need to be an all-nighter if you just know what you’re doing, making these very convenient for many people. Here are steps on how to easily hook up a home theatre system.
Steps
1.
Unbox your home theatre system and distinguish its different elements. Look for the instructions manual and read the section on setup. Though this may be one of the most basic steps in hooking up a system, it’s too often ignored. With just a quick browse ahead of time, a lot of problems can be solved later.
2.
Check your TV for the type of audio-video connections ...
... it has. Currently, the best video connection to utilize is HDMI, a pure digital connection that carries sound and picture. If you’re home theatre system and TV both have this, make use of an HDMI cable to connect them. Note that not all home theatre systems out in the market today come with this type of cable. In such cases, you may need to buy it separately. If HDMI is not permissible, connect the video output of your system to the TV with a component video cable, similar as those used on security surveillance systems, home monitoring systems, or home security cameras. An S-Video cable or single composite video cable may be used as well, depending on your system.
3.
Start an audio link from your TV to the home theatre system. This will allow you to pass TV program sound on to your home theater system's audio amplifiers. Make use of a pair of RCA cables and make a connection from a TV output to an audio output on the home theatre system. To locate the input, consult the manual if necessary.
Some home theatre systems may be wireless, meaning they can produce sound without the need for visible wires running through your room. They work like wireless camera security systems or wireless lighting, in which the only wires present are those used for power.
4.
The speaker wires of your home theatre system may now be connected from the amplifier to the speakers. In some instances, the wires of your system will be assigned with colors for easier hook up. If not, run them through one by one. Find the best position for your speaker heads beforehand to prevent any difficulties in running the wires. Most units will basically have a subwoofer. Connect it with the system likewise and place it in a good spot. Corners do often work well for subwoofers.
5.
See if your system works before arranging all the equipment where you want it. Some systems may come with installer discs, or can be linked with existing security surveillance systems.
