Quality management systems are vital in many different industry sectors and companies who aren’t already using quality management systems should find out more about putting them in place sooner rather than later. The role of quality management systems is to provide organisations with a structured method of recording best practice. The system will also provide a platform for achieving continual improvements within the business through setting objectives and targets that will help companies to reach all their goals. There are certain standards of quality management systems and environmental management systems and these ensure that businesses are meeting the required standards in these areas. There are companies who specialise in delivering effective quality management systems along with support and advice to businesses who need to start using such a system.
Environmental management systems are designed to help companies cut down the running costs of their business by working in an environmentally friendly way. Methods such as recycling, reusing and better selecting goods, products or services from responsible sources plays ...
... an important part in environmental management systems and will help companies to make significant cost savings. Quality management systems such as the ISO 9001:2000 are less demanding than previous versions and they now concentrate more on achievements, improvements and levels of customer satisfaction rather than strict conformity to certain procedures and instructions. Both quality management systems and environmental management systems are about helping companies operate more effectively, efficiently and reduce their running costs whilst offering excellent levels of customer service.
ISO 9001:2000 is an international standard for quality management systems and ISO 14001 is the international standard for environmental management systems and both systems can be independently accredited. Quality management systems and environmental management systems both have their own unique advantages to businesses. Environmental management systems will help companies to reduce waste materials, resources and energy which in turn will reduce costs.
