Engraved Signs For The Home Or Office
Engraved signs come with many uses, and whether you’re looking for a sign for the home or the office, your needs can easily be catered for. A high quality engraved sign should be simple to maintain, easy to read and have a long shelf-life. It should be able to stand up to everyday use and add an air of class and sophistication to any environment it is used in. They can generally be tailored to your own needs, with even highly distinctive designs being supported.
A layer of elegance
Some work environments you might find engraved signs in include hospitals, doctor’s surgeries and office doors alongside a wide array of other areas. engraved signs are particularly useful when used for desk nameplates, where you’ll usually find the name of the person they belong to alongside their job title. They are known to add a layer of elegance and authority and can be housed in plastic or metal holders to protect them.
Engraving is perhaps best described as the process of cutting grooves into a surface to create images, branding, names, pictures or designs. The effect engraving ...
... provides generally has more longevity and authority than applying paints to a surface for instance. Engraving can be applied by hand but can also be achieved via the use of machines or lasers. The machines used are usually called routers, which are pre-programmed to cut the design into the surface.
Choosing materials
There are a number of materials that can be used in the process of manufacturing engraved signs. Aluminium is popular and cost effective, and allows for the production of smaller signs such as name tags. However, it can be used for thicker, more robust signs such as desk nameplates. Stainless steel signs are more expensive and perhaps more sought after, though they are usually only used for larger types of signs rather than name tags and suchlike. Stainless steel is particularly appropriate for outdoor signs due to its high resistance to the weather. Bespoke signs are relatively easy to come by and allow you to personalise your sign by adding colours, border and other effects. Brass can also be used for some outdoor signs and can be seen as an economical alternative to stainless steel.
