Bikaner is among the prominent places to visit in Rajasthan and is famous across the globe for its desert landscapes, stunning forts and magnificent havelis which are treasure-house of the yesteryears arts and artifacts.

The city of Bikaner was once known as Jangaladesh, as the place has been cited as this name in the Mahabharata. After a long gap of being surrounded in the jungles the original city was founded by Rao Bika in 1488. Particularly impressive are Ganga Niwas Durbar hall with finely chiseled walls and ceilings, PhulMahal (flower hall) decorated with mirrors, and Chander Mahal (Moon Hall), painted with hunting scenes. The room interiors clearly show the influence of Mughal architecture. The fort museum has an extensive collection of weapons with menacing swords, cannons and huge rifles, which soldiers once used to fire at enemies from the backs of elephants.

Lal Garh Palace is another tourist destination with red sandstone built by Maharaja Ganga Singh on his father's memory. Sir Swinton Jacob is a person who designed this beautiful palace. Delicate latticework, gardens with peacocks and overhanging balconies plays a vital role in raising attraction of beautiful palace.

You can also explore the museum in the Bikaner named as Ganga-Golden Jubilee. In this museum you come across richest compilation of weapons, terracotta-ware and attractive paintings. Lalgarh Palace - This is another palace in the Bikaner city, which is made up of red-sandstone, as the name signifies. This palace his having exquisite pattern work.

The city is well-connected with Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur and all major cities of India. The nearest airport is at Jodhpur, which is located at a distance of 235 km.
