What Skills Does An Advertising Photographer Require?

I don’t work for an advertising agency, I have no concept of what it takes to make it as a Fashion Photographer but I like to think I’m a pretty shred judge of character. If I was given the task of finding an Advertising Photographer for a commercial project I’d like to think that by using common sense I could pick a professional Fashion Photographer without making a total hash of it. The first thing I’d look for is an international Advertising Photographer that had a wealth of experience in the industry. That would be a given, there’d be no negotiation, the Advertising Photographer would need to show examples of their past projects through a sparkling portfolio that was packed with high-class examples of their work as an advertising and Fashion Photographer.
What else would be important?
How about enthusiasm? You wouldn’t want to book an Advertising Photographer that didn’t seem passionate about their work. Moreover, if you didn’t feel like your project was being treated with the respect it deserves that would put you off the Advertising ...

It would me anyway, I’d want to engage the services of a committed Advertising Photographer they’d need to prove that they were fanatical about being a Fashion Photographer and loved life behind the lens. Furthermore, I’d be looking for signs that they had the flair and the ability to breathe life into the project and create pictures that were bristling with energy. If the Fashion Photographer couldn’t handle that at the very least, what would be the point in booking their services?
Does that sound a bit harsh?
Maybe it does, possibly it doesn’t when you consider what’s at stake.
