Swaminarayan Akshardham temple is the full name of Akshardham Temple which is spread over 100 acres on the eastern banks of the river Yamuna, and is a Hindu temple complex in Delhi, India. The temple complex is one of the most attractive structures because of its amazing architecture and displays millennia of traditional Hindu and Indian culture. It was the effort of over 11,000 craftsmen and 300 million man hours to build this temple. The main temple stands on a Carrara marble platform with the reigning deity's panchdhatu (five-metal) idol 11 ft high. 20,000 plus sculptures of beasts, floral motifs, arches and finely carved pillars have been used for building the temple. During the night, a musical fountain show representing the circle of life is played to an audience which is seated on the same steps. The fountain is named after the founder of the Hindu organization, Shastriji Maharaj. The Yogi Hriday Kamal is a sunken garden in the form a lotus with big stone petals carved with quotes. The 14 acre beautifully maintained garden of the complex itself is an attraction. It has been designed as a place for meditation and as a place for children to enjoy. The garden has finely manicured lawns as well as bronze idols of people who have contributed to the country.
