Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. It is located in the Kilimanjaro national park, Tanzania. It has 3 volcanic mountains KIBO, MAWENZI AND SHIRA.The height of KIBO is 19,341 feet, that of MAWENZI is 16,893 feet and SHIRA is 13,000 feet high. Uhuru peak has been the highest summit located on KIBO’S crater. Kilimanjaro Climb is very attractive to adventure loving tourists and they join trekking the mountain, as it is a walk-up route and not TECHNICAL CLIMB. But the route is dangerous and result in acute mountain sickness (AMS) for the climbers. In fact larger no of persons died during this trekking than that during climbing attempts of Mount Everest. Of course the no of attempts in Mount Everest is much lower. Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro has to be planned properly in advance. The climbers should get the opportunity to acclimatize with mountain environment as the altitude increases.

And at this rate the range would become ice-free by 2033. The Furtwangler Glacier can be seen near the top of kilimanjaro. Now only a portion of it remains due to loss of ice. Its beauty is famous all over the world and attracts mountain lovers who dare death to visit the mountain. Out of the three mountains in Kilimanjaro, Kibo is dormant and other two are extinct. However Kibo emits hot gas through its crater. The mountain of kilimanjaro is covered with forests having wide variety of plantations. The last eruption took place more than 150,000 years ago. Among the world’s high summits it is the easiest to Climb Kilimanjaro. It can be scaled with minimum equipment, proper clothing and lots of determination. Each year approximately 15000 people climb the mountain.

Its height is 19340 feet above sea level. It is the tallest mountain in Africa and world’s tallest freestanding mountain. Kilimanjaro has rain forest, alpine deserts and glaciers. It has elephants, buffalo monkeys and large variety of forest birds living. The word kilimanjaro mean ‘Shining Mountain’. Mountain climbing is one of the most adventurous sports. It requires not only courage but also conviction and needless to say thorough training. It also opens many new secrets that mountains have in the nature including species of animals, birds, plantations which educate us on ecological balance. The team of mountaineers includes persons of different profession apart from professionals in the field. There are large no of mountaineering institutes available throughout the globe. India has good mountaineering heritage for the Himalayas and other mountain ranges. Kilimanjaro is also a very popular destination for the mountain lovers all over the world. Kilimanjaro Climb has been the fascination of all adventurous people either directly related to mountain climbing or not. Year after year people have thronged this mountain range from all parts of the world to enjoy and experience the ambience of this beautiful mountain.
