Lose Weight And Keep It Off The Right Way
If your New Year's resolution is to drop a few pounds than great! That is the easy part. More so than losing those pounds you want to be able to keep them off as well. How many times have you seen people you know (or maybe you are that person) that lost 10 pounds only to gain it back faster than what it took you to lose it. Makes you feel a little demoralized doesn't it? Here are some tips that you can follow that will help you keep that weight off.
Start with what you eat, how you eat it and how much of it you are supposed to eat. You should be consuming six meals per day made up of lean protein sources, quality carbohydrates and green vegetables. Your six meals you should be smaller in size than your normal three meals since you are eating more often. This helps keep your metabolism running throughout the day. Your metabolism is responsible for burning those pesky fat deposits in your body. Keep the food well proportioned and not overeat. I like to use my clenched fist as the indicator as to how much of each portion I should consume. This way I do not need to use a scale or measure things. It makes like ...
... easier on me.
Once I have my nutrition down I then add in some cardiovascular exercise. Twenty minutes per day, three days per week is all I need. Usually I walk the dog, but sometimes I will jump on the bike, or just walk my neighborhood. Whatever it takes for you to get out there and get some cardio work in then go ahead and do it.
Finally I follow a good weight training routine. I perform one exercise for each muscle group (back, biceps, chest, triceps, legs, shoulders and abs), three days per week (on non cardio days). My workouts last anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes which is plenty for what I need. I am not training for the Olympics and if you aren't either, then this will plenty as well.
Combine all of this information above and you will have yourself a great health, fitness and nutrition program that will help you keep those pounds off. Just remember to consult with your primary care physician prior to starting any type of health related program.
