The discovery of pneumatics and its inclusion in industrial applications are counted among the most important contributions to modern technology. There are a great many applications that make use of pneumatic equipment or are pneumatically powered in today’s world, yet most people are unaware of the contributions that pneumatic technology makes towards everyday modern life because pneumatic machinery often functions in the background. Other inventions along the way have facilitated the incorporation of pneumatic technology into industrial systems, such as Pisco tube fittings, without which it would be difficult to attach air hoses to different pieces of pneumatic machinery.

Hand Operated Compressors

The entire idea of pneumatics stems from the idea of using air to do work. In order for the usually unresisting and unsubstantial air to do work, it first needs to be compressed in some way. Today, this is done by modern air compressors that run on electricity or fossil fuels. In olden days, however, there was already a form of air compressor that was manually operated – the hand bellows. Bellows were accordion-like ...
... devices that pushed air out a small nozzle at high pressures. Blacksmiths used these devices to pump air into their forge fires to make them burn hotter.

Modern Compressors

It was only in the early 1800s that the first modern air compressor was built that utilized cylinders arranged in succession to compress air. This was the beginning of the development of pneumatic technology and its incorporation into industry. Scientists and inventors did not realize the potential of the air compressor at first, and it was some time before it was put to real use.

Modern Tools

It was only in the late 1800s that the first pneumatic drill was invented, running on compressed air provided by a modern air compressor. People immediately realized the significance of this invention, powerful yet driven only by air, which was a much more efficient source of energy than running the drill with an electric motor.

Modern Applications

There are many modern applications of pneumatic technology that are not even apparent unless you were to conduct a careful study of certain technologies. The engines on a jet plane, for example, make use of pneumatic technology to operate. Another example is the set of tools that you find in every dentist’s office, including the drill that is the instrument that causes great fear in many people still and which runs on pneumatic power. Pneumatic technology remains relatively unknown because most people have been brought up only being taught that machinery runs on fuel-driven motors or electricity. Thus even when a dentist’s drill gives off a telltale hiss of exhaust air, people do not make the deduction that it must be powered by air and is hence a pneumatic tool.

Industrial Applications

Pneumatic components are widely used in factories and assembly lines, as pneumatic technology is clean and efficient. For the best results from your pneumatic equipment, you should use Pisco tube fittings to attach the air hoses in your system to the equipment, thus ensuring that air will not escape from the system and reduce its efficiency.

Pneumatic Equipment remains relatively unknown to the general public in part due to its effectiveness and reliability, especially when used with quality components like Pisco tube fittings , all of which are available at the best store for all things pneumatic, DAS Services Inc!
