Kota formerly known as Kotah is a city in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan. It is located 240 km south of state capital, Jaipur. Kota lies along the banks of the Chambal River and is the third largest city in Rajasthan. Kota is also known for its palaces and gardens. It has fertile land and greenery with irrigation facilities through canals. Kota is one of the industrial hubs in northern India, with chemical, engineering and power plants. One can travel by road from Kota to Jaipur. The distance between Kota and Jaipur is 240 km. It takes about 4 hours and 40 minutes to travel from Kota to Jaipur. The places covered while travelling are from Kota are -> Bundi -> Tonk -> Chaksu -> Sanganer -> finally terminating in Jaipur. The route has good facilities like restaurants, ATM centers and gas stations. The National Highway 12 connects Kota to Jaipur. There are private cabs or taxi services plying between Kota and Jaipur. The cab fare ranges from Rs. 4,900 to Rs. 6,800.

One can travel from Kota to Jaipur by bus. The district of Kota is well connected with Jaipur. Rajasthan roadways bus stand in Nayapur and Inter-state bus terminal at DCM road are the two bus stations in the city. The Rajasthan government has provided bus services from Kota to Jaipur. There are also private tour operators who operate tourist buses from Kota to Jaipur. The minimum bus fare starts from Rs.210.

One can travel by train from Kota to Jaipur. Many express as well as Super-fast trains are available from Kota to Jaipur. Trains like Intercity Express, Kota Special and Dayodaya Express connect Kota to Jaipur.

Jaipur has an airport. Though Kota has an airport, it is not functional from 1999. If you want to stay at Jaipur, number of Jaipur budget hotels and five star hotels are available.
