Reports suggesting that Apple iPhones are going out of fashion have been thwarted by mobile market researchers worldwide. Though Android has been declared as the highest selling OS platform in the year 2012 and all smartphones which have this operating system installed are selling like never before, it has not reduced the popularity of the iPhone, which was perhaps the first smartphone to enjoy commercial acceptance among both enterprises and individuals.

Several online sources had been reporting of weak iPhone sales for the past two years; but if the latest figures of revenues earned by the Cupertino based company are to be taken into consideration, the iPhone still manages to woo its user base and attract potential customers. Reports released earlier this month points to the fact that the iPhone has topped the list among the highest selling smartphone models with 6.2 million devices selling out in the past quarter. This is more than 50 percent of the mobile devices sold during the same quarter which stood at 9.8 million units. According to the same report, the best selling Apple device has been its iPhone 5S model. ...
... While the ihone sales were strong, it received tough competition from Google’s Android platform that reportedly accounted for the second best figures of smartphone sales in a quarter. The war between the iPhone and Android platforms is neck to neck, say the analysts, but the last sales reports are proof of the fact that the former has defeated the latter, though by only a few points. While the iPhone accounted for 51.2 percent of the total market share, Android devices remained behind a mere 44 percent sales rate.

While these figures were substantiated with accurate proofs, questions arose as to why were they contrary to earlier reports that suggested Apple reducing the production of its iPhones. This too has been answered by eminent mobile market analysts who are of the opinion that Apple had ordered a cut down in the release of more iPhone models not because of their reduced demand but because of the fact that huge orders had been placed in the previous quarter, some of which was left unsold for the coming quarter.

Both mobile research firms and individual market analysts have vehemently protested against claims of iPhone’s demand getting low. They have said in statements to the media that Apple is facing a lot of pressure from Samsung (the biggest manufacturer of Android smartphones), which also means that iOS is under stiff competition from Android; this has only inspired the Apple technologists and iOS software designers to come up with better ideas to generate more interest on their products from the mobile using community. Since Apple has always been able to successfully live up to the needs and expectations of their target audience, the question of weak demand and sales does not occur. The fact that iPhone has been able to sell the most among all other forms of smartphones available in the world market is proof of the fact that Google should try to innovate its Android operating system, the features of which are already getting saturated.

The only problem in the Apple board has been the steep prices of its devices when compared to Android smartphones. Does this mean reduced prices for future iPhone models? That is the next step of consideration, say analysts.
