Rajasthan has a colorful history which makes it one of the most popular travel destinations not only in India but in the world as well. The state includes most of the erstwhile land of Rajputs. Rajput is derivative of a Sanskrit word Rajputra, which means Son of a King. It is known for its royal legacy and grandeur. Rajputs were the royal families who rose to prominence in the 6th century.

The princely state of Rajasthan was ruled by Rajputs for so long that it is rightly known as the Land of the Rajputs. Right from 7th century to the days when Mughals and then, British were in power, Rajput rulers retained the power over their kingdoms by strategic wars, sacrifices, and peace treaties as well. Rajasthan is also well known for its colourful fairs and festivals. With every change of season, Rajasthan gets adorn colorful festivals which are celebrated with great enthusiasm by the residents of Rajasthan.
