There is help at hand however to assist with the clean-up in the form of a specialised cleaning machine known as a floor scrubber.

How does a floor scrubber work?

Many machines work by replicating what would normally be done manually and the floor scrubber is no exception. To clean a floor effectively it would have to be swept then mopped and dried, which is a time consuming and laborious process. At the same time detergent or other cleaning agent is scrubbed into the floor, agitating the detergent into the floor surface to achieve a deeper clean. At this point after the floor scrubber has passed over the floor it is clean but still wet and in a potentially hazardous condition for those people who may need to walk on it. To enable the floor to be used with the minimum of disruption the floor is dried by a system of squeegees at the rear of the machine which enable the floor to be used again (and presumably to be made dirty again). The result is that there is a clean floor which can be used and having been out of action for a short time, with little impediment to people using it.

Different types of floor scrubber

Because floors come in a variety of sizes and configurations there is a wide range of floor scrubbers to suit every job. For smaller premises or areas with difficult access because of narrow aisles or similar, then a pedestrian or walk behind scrubber would be most appropriate. These are available in a wide range of sizes, so there is every chance of a perfect fit for the job in hand. For larger areas a ride on floor scrubber is the best option, as in this case the machine is driven with the operator sitting at the controls to work the machine.

The floor scrubber is not a difficult machine to use and with the minimum of training an operator can use it effectively. Of course these machines are quite sophisticated and each type has its own advantages and disadvantages, varying in cost depending on their capabilities. It is best to take advice from an established supplier before purchase, or alternatively why not hire first to make sure the floor scrubber is the best one for the job.
