Chhattisgarh is located in Central India and is a hub for electrical power and steel industry. Chhattisgarh was formed on 1st November 2000 by annexing 16 Southeastern districts in Madhya Pradesh. Raipur is the capital city of Chhattisgarh, and the most widely spoken language is Chhattisgarhi and Hindi.

Raipur was a powerful capital when Kalachuri Dynasty was in power. The Satavahana Dynasty also had Raipur as the capital during their regime as early as the 2nd and 3rd century.

The Northern Chhattisgarh lies at the edge of Indo-Gangetic plain. Chhattisgarh is surrounded by Uttar Pradesh on the north, Madhya Pradesh on the northwest, Maharashtra on the west, Andhra Pradesh on the south, Orissa on the east and Jharkand on the northeast side. A tributary of Ganga called Rihand River runs in this state; however, Mahanadhi River is the primary source of water for Chhattisgarh.

Some of the most prominent caves here are KailashGufa in Bastar, Kutumsar Cave, SitaBengra in Sarguja and Gadiya Mountain in Kanker district.

Kanger National Park, Indravati National Park, Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary and Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary in Bilaspur are some of the efforts taken to preserve the flora and fauna in the location.

Rajivlochan Temple, Bhoramdeo Temple, Champran and Chandrahasini Devi Temple are some of the most remarkable temples in Chhattisgarh. Sirpur and Giraudhpur are sites of religious importance.Ratanpur and Malhar in Bilaspur, and Barsoor in Dantewada are archaeological sites in Chhattisgarh.

Air: There is just one commercial airport in Chhattisgarh, and it is in the capital city, Raipur. Flights ply to major cities in India on daily basis. The nearest International airport is located in Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, which connects to various International destinations.

Rail: South East Central Railway's zonal headquarter in Bilaspur serves as the Railway link between Chhattisgarh and other major cities in India. Durg junction and Raipur junction also have trains plying to major cities within the city.

Road: The Mumbai - Kolkata National Highway passes through Chhattisgarh. NH 43 starts from Raipur and extends till Vishakhapatnam. NH 78 between Madhya Pradesh and Jharkand passes through four districts in Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh has 11 National Highways that extend within and outside the city.
