I had given my living room a makeover. Since, the kitchen was an open one; it needed a face lift with the living room. After the living room makeover, the kitchen space had to be infused with some freshness so that it gels well with the attached living room.
So, to facilitate some change in my kitchen decor, what I did was to go visit the flea market to bring in some fresh paint which matched the color scheme of my living room. Since, the kitchen is a high functionality area; I got some tiles for the walls too. It is easier to clean the tiles. The smoke that settles on the tiles is easier to take care of. I had the walls of the kitchen half painted and half tiled.
The walls matched the color scheme of the living room. For the cooking area, I got laminate sheets installed on the existing countertops. Laminate is strong and is very easy to clean. Since, it is easy to clean; it makes for a hygienic area to cook upon. Hygiene is of prime importance in a kitchen area especially.

... of a slab which I turned into a seating space with some high chairs by the side. The plastic laminate installation on the slab made it easier for me to take care of the place. Plastic laminate is stronger and is all the more budget friendly.
Matching the texture paint of the walls of my living room, I decided to give a punch of color to the kitchen. I chose gloss laminate fittings for the modular cupboards and cabinets in the kitchen. The gloss laminate fittings added a lot of spunk and spark into the kitchen giving it an edge in style and elegance just like my living room decor.
Tip for you- Follow your instinct and match the decor of your kitchen and the adjoining room with little nuggets and elements. A total uniformity is not required when it comes to decor but some elements can be infused which can lend a synthesized design to the rest of the area.
Follow these simple steps in essence and revamp whichever area of the house that you wish to decorate and design. It takes a little experiment and a little out of the box thinking to create a magical decor and design.
