People belonging to different religions like Hindu, Christian, Muslim and various communities have adopted Mehandi as a beautifying factor, conditioner and dye for hair by both men and women. In Tamil Nadu it is called by the name Maruthani. It is a natural dye that renders a beautiful color on hair and creates a lustrous look. The redness the mehandi creates in skin on application of it in intricate design is simply amazing.

Mehandi ceremony is celebrated a day prior to the actual wedding day as an important pre- wedding ritual in almost all Hindu families across India. It is in a way the first of the ornaments worn by the soon to be bride. Female relatives, friends and acquaintances apply Mehandi on bride’s hands and legs. This event is considered as auspicious and enhances the celebration mood, which is popularly known as ‘Mehandi Ceremony' or ‘Mehndi Ki Raat'.

The colouring of hands and feet with Mehandi has got a string of subtle reasons, and many beliefs revolve around the deepness of hue that remains in the hand after the application of henna. A few of them are: If the Mehandi gets darker tone ...
... on hands, the love of husband and in laws will be deep. So the bride to be will be eager to see the color density of henna absorbed by the skin. Mehandi also depicts love and affection between the couple, it is believed that -the more days the Mehandi stays, the longer time the prosperity stays in the couple’s life. In most Indian Houses the newly married girl is not allowed to perform household chores till the Mehandi fades away from her hand.

Even in the online tamil matrimony age where there are scores of matrimony portals helping people in finding the best life partners and aplenty Free and paid matrimonial services on offer.
