In northern part of India lies Dehradun, the capital city of Uttarakhand. It is located in the Doon Valley on the foothills of Himalayas. Both sides are covered with mightiest rivers Ganges in the east and Yamuna to the west. Dehradun is famous for its resources, education and publishing services. Opto Electronics Factory of Defence Electronics Application Laboratory and Instruments Research and Ordnance Factory Dehradun have their foundation here. Dehra is a word originated from dera meaning camp and Doon meaning valley that lies between Himalayas and Shiwalik. They are Tapkeshwar temple, Malsi Deer Park, Kalanga monument, Laxman Siddh, Chandrabani, Guchhupani, Forest Research Institute, Tapovan, Santala Devi temple and Wadia Institute.

Within Dehradun district lies Mussoorie, a hill station situated in the foothills of Garhwal Himalayan ranges also known as queen of hill stations. It has a natural walk known as Camel’s back road. It has a shape of camel’s hump. There is also a Gun hill. Company garden, full ...
... of flowers and plants are also very good attraction. Tourism is the major contribution of Mussoorie economically. Mussoorie has India’s largest roller skating rink. Mussoorie got its name from mansoori, which means a shrub only in this place.

Mussoorie is situated only around 29 Km from Dehradun. Driving on the Mussoorie road, one has to pass through Chironwali and Jakand before reaching Mussoorie. The average time taken for a road trip is around thirty seven minutes.

When it comes to selecting the best mode of transport, one has only road as the choice. Transportation includes roads and also rails, but not that connected directly. The trip offers us a wonderful visual treat indeed of the Himalayan snow ranges and the Doon Valley, with Roorkee, Saharanpur and Haridwar to the South, creating an almost serene atmosphere for the tourists. Good Climate in Mussoorie makes it attractive for tourist as a holiday resort.

Choosing road as a mode of transport is indeed best option. There are many connecting buses from Dehradun to Mussoorie; it may be on the way to Haridwar. Online booking and editing can be done. Its fare is around Rs. 100 to Rs. 150 and above, according to the seats booked.

If one doesn’t fancy travelling by bus, a private taxi would be another option which can easily cost Rs.4500 and upwards. This maybe a good option, when one is travelling with family. One can use own car for travelling, with adjustment in mode of car used. But as Mussoorie is a hill station, there is no petrol pumps on the way.

Mussoorie doesn’t have railway station. Nearby stations are Delhi, Ambala, Haridwar, and Chandigarh.BrentWood Hotel Mussoorie and Rio Resort Dehradun have good name.
