Kanchipuram is situated only around 71 Km from Chennai. Driving on the NH 4, one has to pass through Ambattur before Kanchipuram. The average time taken for a road trip is around 1 hour and 30 minutes.

When it comes to selecting the best mode of transport, one will be spoilt with choices. Transportation includes road and rails.

Choosing rail as a mode of transport, there are quite a lot train connection to travel from Chennai to Kanchipuram. The total fare normally is around Rs.240 to Rs. 260 only, in local trains. In Cherai Express, departs from Chennai at 10.10 pm and reaches Kanchipuram at 12.33 am. Cheapest mode of transport to reach from Chennai to Kanchipuram may be by rails.
