Just because most people want to fly via cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages, does not mean that they do not want to enjoy hot meals in flight.

In fact a new poll by Airfarewatchdog found that 53 percent of the 1,221 people it polled would be willing to pay for a hot meal.
U.S. airlines no longer serve hot meals on most domestic flights opting to instead offer snacks for sale.

How much fliers would be willing to pay varied. 29 percent say that they would pay $5, 19 percent said they would pay $10, 5 percent said that they would pay $15, and 3 percent were willing to pay as much as $20.

Select airlines are starting to sell premium meals in economy class on international flights. US Airways introduced a premium meal option last year for $19.99 on international flights. It offers both a chicken and vegetarian option with both meals accompanied by a glass of wine.
