Smooth Out Lifes Little Wrinkles

For those of us experiencing the aging process, we know that it is not just a physical process, it also emotional. Sure our wrinkling bodies suggest our age and certainly affects the way people look at us. But inside, we all feel relatively young. We have our aches and our pains but our spirit is still young. For many, aging is difficult to accept. But once you deal with aging emotionally, the physical no longer matters.
Most of the distress of aging is felt from nostalgic emotions remember our youth as the best times of our lives. The long nights chilling out with friends, listening to music, laughter. recalling life before there was responsibilities. It is difficult to realize that those times are in the past. However, how many of us remember thinking that we couldn't wait to escape that town, those people? What we could do with our lives, once our parents stopped making those decisions for us. Well guess what?... we finally got there.
I understand if you are skeptical about this theory, but keep reading. If there is one thing that I have learned in my life it is that I recall the past fondly and ...
... always look ahead to a great future. But I often times need to remind myself of the importance of right now. Right now, I am enjoying the company of my friends. Right now, I am in complete control of my life. Right now, my family loves me. As we grow older we tend to look at all of the things we could not wait to accomplish as obligations and responsibilities. As if we did not have this baggage, we would still be running around having the time of our lives. Remember, we chose each and every one of those things.
The greatest accomplishments of my life are also the obligations which I feel pressured by. It just doesn't make any sense. With as much time as our populations spends trying to change the way we look, shouldn't we spend a little time changing what it is that we feel. What we need is a wrinkle cream for our feelings. An advanced lotion that allows us to love and appreciate who we are and all that we have done.
Society often times resists the eventuality of aging. Plastic surgeons have been cashing in on this for years. Anti wrinkle products have become a staple of middle aged family's medicine cabinet. Fighting baldness or dyeing our hair has become the norm for many middle aged people. All of these changes can certainly improve your appearance (if by improve you mean reduce the age of), but accomplish nothing to help heal the emotional scars you perceive that growing up has caused you.
Accepting age is the key to happiness. Once you accept and even appreciate what you have and all that you have done, it makes aging enjoyable. We focus our life hoping for retirement, a time for a enjoyable life and once we arrive we want nothing to do with it. When each of us asks ourselves who the most important people in the world are to us, it is always our family. And what we think we are missing, isn't really worth missing after all. We have changed. Sure we would all like to act carefree, but carefree is just a state of mind, an idea that dwindles with financial responsibility. Life can certainly surprise us, and very few of us have lived exactly the life we thought we would as teenagers. But that does not demonstrate that our lives were unpleasant or wasted. It only means that when we were inexperienced teenagers with unrealistic ideas of life, we had a different plan. I also planned on eating KFC for the better part of my life as well, I seldome miss that! Sometimes all we need is a deep breath and an objective point of view of life.
This point of view is your emotional wrinkle cream. Your serum to wipe away the wrinkles that life has {{[thrown|given}}} you. Your way of aiding in the aging process, maintaining your sanity, and finding that happiness that was the very purpose of each of our plans. So the next time you are feeling sorry for yourself, take the time to remember all of the amazing times you have had. The laughter and shared emotions that are most dear to our hearts is the very thing that we have become. They do not need to be longed for as they are all right here with us. They are our emotional wrinkle cream, the location of our happiness.
