You should also spray a small amount of lubricant into the gear box and BB feed point. This will help to ensure that the various moving parts of your gun move smoothly and minimizes wear and tear.

Be sure not to use too much lubricant, however, as lubricant does tend to attract dust and dirt. Using too much will cause dirt to build up inside your gun, which will almost certainly spoil it.

Quality BBs

Often, when you purchase your gun, you will get free BBs with it. Unless you are sure that these are good quality BBs, you should simply put them aside and buy some high quality BBs. The better BBs are heavier and seamless, ensuring a smooth flight out the barrel of your gun. Also, you should never reuse BBs. Even if you just dropped some BBs on the ground, you should refrain from picking them up and using them. Any chips or imperfections in the BBs can cause major wear and tear in your gun, and reduce its lifespan.
