Even when there is a heavy storm of economic meltdown round the globe, the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is worming up to host the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit - 2009. Government of Gujarat is organizing 4th Global Investor's Summit on 12th and 13th January 2009. The summit is to be held at Science City, Ahmedabad. Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro) will become an international partner of the event.

The Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit - 2009 has been started with an aim to bring all the top industries associated with finance, technology and marketing, together at one place. The summit-09 will be bringing all the business leaders, investors, corporations and even the leaders, policy and opinion makers together. It serves as the perfect platform for these people to understand and explore business opportunities in the state of Gujarat. This will also help to make them realize the true strengths of the state and to create an awareness about the state as a brand. ... meltdown. This event will be proved as a good platform for the Indian investors to come together to fight the global meltdown and to discuss the ways to take the country forward. The investors from both inside and outside the country could invest in the state through this. It would be an event which will kick-start various events planned out by the government of Gujarat.

This is a bi-annual event which has been organizing by the Government of Gujarat for the fourth time this year. In the previous three summits the state marked its presence on the map of international business. This is the summit which has been resounding success in attracting companies from Asia and Europe in Gujarat for business. In Global Investor's Summit - 2003 a total of 76 MOUs worth USD 14 billion were signed. The summit in the year 2005 saw signing of 226 MOUs, generating an investment of USD 20 billion. The summit held at 2007 attended by industry majors like Tata, Birla, Reliance, Shell, General Motors, ICICI . In this investor's summit 675 MOUs worth USD 152 billion were signed. The investor's summit held in 2007 was focused on the development of SEZs in the state, while this time the focus of the Gujarat Government is on the small and medium enterprises (SEMs) as they have the potential to help big industries and manufacturing sectors.

The Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit - 2009 is truly going global this year as 400 foreign delegates from 30 countries and 60 companies around the world are going to participate. Many NRIs and NRGs are also likely to participate at the event. The countries like Uganda, Canada, Italy, Korea, Russia, France, China, Germany, Taiwan, Australia, Malaysia along with US, UK and many of African countries have shown interest in participating in the event. Along with these foreign delegates the top industrial magnets like Ratan Tata, Mukesh and Anil Ambani, Sunil Bharati Mittal and Shashi Ruia have conformed their participation in the summit. The biggest participant for the event will be Japan which is helping to build the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial corridor (DMIC). This DMIC has been modeled along the Pacific-Belt region through the Tokyo - Fukuoka Corridor in Japan.

The event is likely to attract the investments of Rs.6-7 lakh crores from various sectors. The State Bank of India is expecting deployment of over Rs 20,000 crore funds during the summit. The main focus of this year summit will be based on ‘Globalization of Gujarat tourism'. Among the various sectors like infrastructure, power, oil & gas, shipbuilding, automobiles, tourism, pharmaceuticals, the state government will eye more on the tourism sector. With taking a lot of efforts and focus on tourism industry Gujarat is on its way to become the no. 1 destination in tourism and this summit will be the helping hand for that.
