New York City Web Designers

In a state that is very big and spread out, New York has a highly-concentrated mecca of website designers in New York City. I am not just referring to part-time freelancers willing to do some work on the side to earn an extra buck; but to professional web designers who treat the trade as if it is their livelihood. New York City is clearly the place to go when you are looking to get a lot of talent for a specific profession. The explosion of the Internet Age means that website designers are more prevalent than most trades are in NYC. As a result, consumers are more often successful at vetting out a good fit in a person or firm for the job in question. Of course this can work against you too when there are too many options. But the idea is, the talent has to provide a good product because he/she/they know that there are many other capable contractors and entities very close by who can execute the job very well. So what do you look for in a NYC website designer? And do you look for something different in the city than you would for a general New York web designer? The biggest thing you need to conscious of is the deadline ...
... of your project. All skills aside, if the web designer or website design firm doesn’t have the necessary free time to complete the project by its deadline, you obviously can’t go in that direction. Professional web designers always know if they can complete a proposed project on time. If they can’t give you a straight answer, they don’t have the expertise or resources needed to keep you happy. This is simple logic in play. The second most important element to the selection process would be the budget. Web designers in New York City are notorious for “going over budget”. To protect yourself, you should go over the full requirements in detail and contract the project on a set budget versus hourly. This way if the web designer or website design company spends more time than anticipated, it is their problem and not yours. Another thing to keep in mind, usually website designers will be able to perform the job for less money than an agency. This is because the consumer gets stuck subsidizing the rent and overhead that the company has on their books. It is not fair, but this is just how it is. In New York City you need to be extra careful of this because the rents and overhead are at a real premium. New York City web designers also should be taking the time to learn about you and your business. The website you are building should not just be content and images, but should include features that will actually enrich your life in some way. There are so many amazing tools, plugins, and widgets available these days that should be integrated on your site from day one. Any worthwhile, professional web designer should act as a consultant in a way as well….not just a coder. I find that most people have an idea of what they want, but still need help being steered in the right way. I have many other ideas and tips on how you can get the most out of your website investment.
