The name 'Thrissur' has originated from 'Tiru-Shiva-Peru' which means 'the big town of Lord Shiva'. One of the famous aspects of the city is the shrine where Lord Shiva is the heading idol. The temple is positioned in the heart of the city. The city is one of the first cities of Kerala. There is a myth that the city was created by Lord Parasurama, soon after Kerala was created, by erecting the Shiva temple here. Thrissur map finds a permanent place in the global tourism.
