There are 2 manifestations of points analysis of profile under the SkillSelect i.e.
• For skills migration subclasses under federal and nomination segments under

As per the revised marks allocation strategy under Australia SkillSelect Points Test 1 July 2012 edition for skills migration, all areas deemed to be essential for a profile are allocated a major chunk of marks. these parameters include
• Age - you can score a maximum of 30 marks if you happen to be between 25 to 32 years in age. Lowest marks band of is 15 which is allotted to profiles of people aged 40 to 44 years and people beyond this age are not allotted any marks
• English linguistic skills - After the age language is allocate the highest priority in a profile. You can score a maximum of 20 marks in this area. Maximum marks are allocate to IELTS 8 / OET A band and 10marks are granted to profile reflecting IELTS 7 / OET B level.
• Employment exposure in your nominated trade – in this are people having employment exposure in Australian in shores are preferred over the people having overseas exposure. People who have employment exposure of more than 10 years in Australian employment are allotted a score of 15 while if you have been employed beyond Aussie shores for same period then your profile will be allotted a maximum of 15 marks.
o Lowest score of 5 is allotted to people with 1 year of employment exposure accumulated in-shores or overseas. For the purpose of gauging this parameter only period of previous 10 years immediately preceding the application is accounted for.
• Academic accomplishments – While gauging this criteria a maximum score of 20 is granted to people with Phd. While a trade certification can fetch a score of 10 marks.
o If you have been educated in one of the specified Australian institutions, you can be granted 5 additional marks
• Additional factors – you can score additional 5 marks if you can substantiate
o Spousal trade accomplishments
o You have studied in regional part of country
o State nomination (at time of being invited for next stage)
