Alleppey: A Honeymoon On Backwater

Alleppey, known as Alappuzha is often connoted as "Venice of east" because of its several waterways. These vast networks of lakes, lagoons and canals are the lifeline of the town. Tasty and appetizing rice wine of Alappuzha is one of the most admired drinks of the city. The town is also famous for its Ayurvedic massage centers. Alappuzha is a popular honeymoon destination, an ideal place to spot bird and animal life, and a place to observe soak in the many religious historic locations. HOW TO REACH?
The best option is to fly to Kochi and continue their onward journey by taxi or bus. The city is well linked by train to Cochin and Trivandrum. Trivandrum International Airport and Cochin International Airport is the nearby airport. The peak season to visit the town is between October and March, when tourists have to book in advance for lodging. There are many sightsee places in Alleppey like Kurumadi which is only three kilometers from the city and is famous for giant black granite statue. Other prominent place is Krishnapuram palace which was constructed during the period of Marthanda Varma. This 18th century structure was built in two-stories & crafted with customary Kerala architectural features
