F1 Driver Of The Year For 2012
Every year the grand car competition surprises the worldwide fans with their appearances in various countries. Although the outcome of the 2012 F1 season sounds not a new one, the whole year can be described as a blend of predictable and unforeseen happenings.
Formula One team principals voted Fernando Alonso, Ferrari driver as the driver of the year in spite of Sebastian Vettel’s winning as the sport’s youngest triple world champion at the age of 25. Based on the principal’s top 10 grand prix scoring, Alonso bagged the first place while Vettel the second place for scores 269 and 198. Alonso lost the final battle in Brazil last month where Vettel leads Alonso by three points.
Although the principal’s decision was kept secret, the decision remains unchanged where eight out of 12 voted Alonso as driver of the year. Alonso has the biggest winning margin for the last five years since the top 10 awards were conducted.

Alonso has the biggest winning margins for the last five years where he won two titles with Renault in 2005 and 2006 respectively and was also voted as the best driver in 2010 when Vettel took the first championship.
Hamilton who went from Mercedes to Mc Laren finished as third with 177 points and Kimi Raikkonen as fourth with 176 points (Lotus) and Mc Laren’s Jenson Button garnered 104 points as fifth.
Winner Fernando Alonso did great performances to make him stay in the title despite the fact that his machine was inferior to Red Bull. He did incredible driving skills in Malaysia early during the year when his car was not that in great condition.
Runner up Sebastian Vettel like Alonso demonstrated spectacular driving even his car was not in that perfect condition. He marked distinctive winnings from Singapore onwards. Vettel is the youngest triple champion in the F1 history.
Race of the year:
The climax in Sao Paulo was an exciting competition throughout the race following the remarkable damage to Vettel’s car and non-stop rain problems. A great toss, the US Grand Prix the previous weeks was a success on and off the trail with Hamilton pass on Vettel, a lasting memory in the history of America.
