The main difference between pneumatic equipment and equipment driven by electric or fuel motors is that pneumatic tools and components are driven by compressed air. Instead of using a motor to directly drive whatever process needs to be performed, the motor is used to generate compressed air which is fed into the system. That compressed air then drives the necessary mechanical processes. Thus pneumatic equipment like pneumatic grippers and Vessel air nippers possess a versatility that equipment serving the same purpose but driven directly by motors does not possess.

Clean Air

One of the greatest advantages in working with pneumatic equipment is the use of air to power the equipment. This is particularly useful in industries that require high levels of cleanliness in and around assembly lines. Regular motors have a great many moving parts, and have to be oiled or greased in order for them to work properly. The constant movement of the motor parts against each other also causes dust and other contaminants to be released.

Moreover, in some environments, the production process makes use of flammable gases which ...
... are present around the assembly line. If any sort of motor were to be used, the electricity or combustion of fuel would immediately ignite those flammable gases and cause an explosion. With pneumatic equipment, however, there is only compressed air moving through the system and the driving motor can be placed far away in a safe location.

Motor Placement

Any motor used with pneumatic equipment provides power indirectly, in the form of production of compressed air, and this allows the motor to be placed in a position far removed from the point where the compressed air is used to drive equipment. Where a sterile environment is needed or where flammable gases are present, the motor can be placed outside, and the compressed air fed into the system by tubes that can be embedded in the walls or in the ground so that there is no chance of the gases being ignited by electricity or stray sparks.

Versatility

Pneumatic equipment also offers greater power density than electric or fuel motor-driven equipment. This means that a pneumatic motor of the same size as an electric motor is able to generate a greater amount of force. Pneumatic motors are thus smaller and easier to incorporated into the design of a system as they take up less space. Pneumatic tools are also smaller and lighter because there is no need to incorporate heavy motors into the tools themselves. All that is required are pneumatic valves to control the airflow to the tool itself, so that it can be turned on and off by shutting off and turning on the flow of air.

Simplicity

Pneumatic equipment is also simple relative to motor-driven equipment, because it contains less moving parts. This means that there is less chance for parts to jam or malfunction, making pneumatic equipment more reliable. Pneumatic grippers and Vessel air nippers are more reliable than their motor-driven counterparts, making them financially advantageous to use.

Pneumatic Grippers and Vessel air nippers have the distinct advantage of being powered by clean compressed air, making them much easier to incorporate into an assembly or factory line, and also easier for workers to handle. Get there pneumatic tools and much more at the DAS Services Inc website!
